Tasteful Touches Fun Fold

Sometimes you just need a good card fold, design and elements to make a really awesome card! Today I am sharing a ‘fun fold’ card that is simple but packs a punch!

You start with your standard card base of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Mine is Purple Posy. You can get 4 card bases out of one sheet of card stock too which is awesome. You will then cut your second ‘card’ base to 3 x 11 and score at 5 1/2. Once you have these two pieces you can stamp a pattern along the edges of the Purple Posy. I used one of the images from the Tasteful Touches stamp set and stamped in Highland Heather. Attach the white card to the Purple Posy base and then embellish as desired.

I used the Tasteful Touches stamp set as the focal point of this card. I absolutely LOVE the feathers. I stamped them in Bumbleebee on Whisper White card stock. I inked the feather once and stamped it three times to get three different tones of the ink. These are then hand cut.

The sentiment, You are the Best, is actually stamped twice. I stamped it once and then layered a 1 inch strip of card stock over top as a mask. I then stamped my sentiment again to get the second half ‘The Best’ to line up underneath this strip. I then added a DSP strip from the Flowers for Every Season 6x6 stack overtop in place of where the mask was.

I added a bit of linen thread and some of the shapes from the In Good Taste Wooden Elements. The Misty Moonlight scallops along the white base edges come from the Budding Blooms dies. And of course I had to flick my Purple Posy marker across the Whisper White base! Its the best trick out there to take away the feeling of too much blank space.

I hope you will give this ‘fun fold’ a try! Have an awesome day!

You are my favourite! Create with Connie and Mary

This week we are sharing our favourite NEW stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! demonstrator pre-order (best part about being a demo, getting the inside scoop and getting stuff early!). I am really loving the Tasteful Touches stamp set. It is also a part of a bundle with the Tasteful Labels dies. The feather is my favourite image in this stamp set.

The feathers are so bright and vibrant that I wanted to keep the focus on them by keeping the sentiment neutral. The sentiment is stamped and embossed in Whisper White on Basic Black card stock. I added I a few ribbon and paper scraps behind for a little interest. You are the Best is cut out with a die from the Tasteful Labels die. Both the stamp set and the dies will be available in June with the new catalogue release.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

You know this childhood sentiment! I was channelling little flowers and a rainbow today when I came up with this card. I used the new Confetti Flowers Border Punch to create this rainbow arch. This is card #22 in my “A Card a Day in May” challenge series.

To construct the rainbow, I stamped the sentiment first. This is a great tip for spacing AND I did’t want to risk making this awesome tedious rainbow and then stamp crooked. Haha! It happens and it’s devastating! So I stamped first in Poppy Parade and then started with the Highland Heather layer of flowers and worked my way up and out. The sentiment is from the stamp set Tasteful Touches and will be available with the new catalogue release.

I used Tombow Multipurpose glue to adhere all the little flowers. My Take a Pick Tool was a lifesaver as it made it so easy to pick up the flowers and place them onto the glue without having sticky fingers.

The colors used to create this rainbow arch are Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Soft Seafoam, Balmy Blue and Highland Heather

Just Saying Hello...

I have to admit that the temptation to play with NEW stuff is so strong! So I could not help myself by making a card with all new products for card #14 in my “A Card a Day in May” challenge!

This card features the Tasteful Touches stamp set which is a new offering. The flower is stamped twice and hand cut. The dies for this bundle do not cut out the images in the stamp set. I coloured the flowers with the Purple Posy and Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends. I went over top of the flowers with the Wink of Stella Pen. I really wish I could capture the sparkle it adds in a photo!

I used the Scallop Tag Topper punch to create the vellum tag and embossed the sentiment in white. The foliage is cut with the Sunflowers dies in Mossy Meadow and Old Olive. The base layer of the card is embossed with the new Old World Paper 3D folder. The texture it gives is just unbelievable!

Finally I added some Gilded Gems and gold metallic trim from the Forever Greenery Combo Pack!

If you are like me and cannot wait for new stuff, then consider that I got ALL OF THIS product on the demonstrator pre-order! You can join my Glitter Girls team NOW and get all of this in your Starter Kit too!
