Color Fusers November 2021

Hello friends! Wow, did October ever go by quickly! Its now November 1st and officially Christmas season. Fall and halloween are dead, bring on the holiday! Although that is NOT what I am sharing with you today! Our color combo this month could be viewed as a tricky one as the 4 tones are all quick dark, however I had the best pictures to work with this color theme!

This month our crafty group is creating projects with Merry Merlot, Misty Moonlight, Cinnamon Cider and Early Espresso. Back in July I had a Besties Photo shoot with two of my long time friends and we did a little picnic afterwards. The picnic set up totally reminded me of Misty Moonlight and a pattern from the In Good Taste Designer Series stack so I used that as my inspiration to design this page.

These are two of my besties I met while in University! We hit things off working at a restaurant together. We have actually not all lived in the same city for over 20 years but despite the distance I know they would have my back always and no matter what #friendsforever

I started with a 12x12 in Misty Moonlight and on the top half of the page I stamped the large flowers from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set. I actually love this stamp set as I love a good image that can fill in space. I stamped it in the same ink color for a tone on tone look.

The bottom of my page features the In Good Taste DSP with a couple of strips of Cinnamon Cider DSP from the retired In Color 6x6 stacks (last years design). Adding this strip felt like a natural way to incorporate this color and create division between the two sections of my page.

Are you an F Bomb kind of mom? Hahaha, we are and my friend had these cups designed especially for us!

I used Early Espresso card stock as my photo mats and I ran them both through the Timber 3D Embossing Folder for a subtle effect.

It was easy to add in Merry Merlot by die cutting some flowers from the Pierced Blooms Dies. This is one of my favorite die sets in the Annual Catalogue!

I added some retired In Color Enamel Dots and the sentiment is from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.

You can find the sentiment “Friends Forever” in the Lighthearted Lines stamp set. NOTE: Friends Forever is part of a phrase and l used my Paper Snips to do some Stampin’ surgery on this rubber stamp as I really wanted to use this part of the phrase all on its own.

The label is also a die from the Pierced Blooms Dies and I added a bit of retired Cinnamon Cider ribbon behind and some gold thread.

Color Fusers--July 2021 Blog Hop

Hello friends! I really appreciate you taking the time to pop by and enjoy our Color Fusers Blog Hop! I love color challenges as they help stretch my creativity! This month’s color challenge is amazing and I am so excited with the project I designed using Basic White, Basic Black, Petal Pink and Gold!

When I was mentally toying around with this color palette, I had the idea to create something with stripes. I ended up including them but on the diagonal to create a focal point for my scrapbook page!

I also chose this particular picture because my mom and daughter are wearing black and white and call me crazy, but my photos have to coordinate somewhat with my page designs. In fact I hardly EVER create a page without my pictures first. I can make exceptions for specific holidays, like Father’s or Mother’s Day, but typically I always chose my picture first!

I decided to start off with a Basic White background for my scrapbook page and I added a spray of black using my Stampin’ Blends marker. I flicked the Blend across my page where I was intending to add in some flowers.

The flowers are from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set and are stamped in Petal PInk. I pinched up the edges to give them a little more interest and depth. This page is quite minimalist for me but I am so happy with how it turned out!

The best part of this whole page is this 4 x 10 diagonal panel that I created to bring in the Basic Black, Petal Pink and Gold colors of this challenge. I cut a separate piece of Basic White card stock to 4 x 10. I then covered it with Tombow Glue—I think this is key, because there is wiggle time with this glue to get things perfect unlike Stampin’ Seal. I added in my strips which are 1 1/4 wide. Once I had them in place, I flipped over the Basic White and trimmed off the excess to create this fun panel.

The sentiment “Love is What Makes Us Family” is from the stamp set Lovely You.

I also added in a few Gilded Gems for a little extra pop of gold.

The sentiment “I like you a lot” is from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.

I cannot wait to see what the others in the Hop create with this color combo. If I am your first stop make sure you Hop all the way around and leave a comment! If you live in Canada you can shop with me using my Hostess Code or visiting my online store :)

Create with Connie and Mary--Spring Flowers!

Well this week we are focusing our design efforts on Spring Flowers! There is still snow on the ground where I live so I don’t think I will be seeing any actual flowers for a while, nonetheless I was still excited to create a scrapbook page of a photo I did take last spring!

I wanted to use a bundle that I knew was carrying forward into our new catalogue being released in May. This is a set I was happy to see return as I have not had as much time to play with it as I was hoping, so I am glad I will have another catalogue run to be creative with it!

There are a couple things on this page that are retiring…have you seen the list? Can you spot them?

The base of my page is classic Basic White. Because this was a spring layout, I wanted a crisp background to start with. I began by blending some Balmy Blue into the background and I stamped the large from image from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set in the same ink color. This created a bit of tone on tone imagery.

What I love about this die set is you get TWO large dies that match the stamped image. I used the more solid one up top, cutting it from Basic White card stock. The second more delicate one is die cut from Balmy Blue card stock. When you lay both of these over top of the stamped image you just get a peek a boo look at the stamping and blending beneath. LOVE!!

The small stamped flowers are hand cut as there is not a die that just cuts the perimeter out in the Many Layered Blossoms Dies. I used Bumblebee, Highland Heather (on Purple Posy card stock) and Petal Pink as to me these feel like spring colors. I love the soft pastel tones of this season.

I added small die cut flowers in Basic White to contribute to the crisp feel of this page.

I created two focal points on this page, the top right corner where I added in Happy (which is hand trimmed from the entire phrase of Happy Birthday). I used Flirty Flamingo ink on Petal Pink card stock so the sentiment would be a little more vibrant.

Opal rounds were the perfect embellishment for this page as they add texture without being distracting.

The Pinewood Planks 3D folder also add alot of natural texture to the photo mat.

This bottom second focal point highlights one of my favorite ribbons, the Bumblebee Gingham ribbon! I have gone through several rolls of this ribbon!

I thought the sentiment “I like you a lot” was perfect for this page and I am happy that this whole design used a single bundle! This is not something that I can say happens for me very often.

I love how this page turned out, especially because I was able to piece it together in less than 30 minutes! By focusing on a single stamp set or bundle it can make your designs come together a lot faster than trying to mix and match and incorporate…

I love how this page turned out, especially because I was able to piece it together in less than 30 minutes! By focusing on a single stamp set or bundle it can make your designs come together a lot faster than trying to mix and match and incorporate other stamps . This bundle is definitely a winner for me!

I can’t wait to see what the rest of the team has designed with the theme SPRING FLOWERS! There are so many great stamp sets to choose from that the possibilities are endless. You can go BACK to see Melissa’s project or you can go NEXT to see what Connie has created this week for us. Either way, visit the whole hop and please feel free to leave me a comment. I really enjoy reading them.

Joy of Sets--That's FONT-astic!

Thank you so much for hopping along with The Joy of Sets team this month! If I am your first stop, welcome, and have fun seeing all the creative ways we are using FONTS!

A big thank you Joy of Sets team for such a unique Blog Hop Theme! I had a lot of fun creating my project featuring FONTS and how they can help bring your projects alive. I wanted to create a scrapbook page as it gives you the space to use a variety of FONTS on your project.

On this page I used 5 different fonts, 4 from stamp sets and one from the Playful Alphabet dies! I love the unexpected combo of fonts!

I used the Peony Garden DSP as my color palette and then decided to add in some soft purples to pull in the color from the lilac bush in our picture. I always look at some angle to get my photo to coordinate with the colors of my scrapbooking.

Always is stamped in Smoky Slate using the Field of Flowers stamp set from the Annual Catalogue. Smile is cut in Blushing Bride and is lifted using the Adhesive Sheets. Quite possibly my FAVORITE accessory in the new catalogue, at the moment at least!

I Like You A Lot is also stamped with Smoky Slate ink on Highland Heather card stock. You can find this phrase in the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set. I used a retired scallop boarder punch (gasp, yes, I don’t sell everything! Somethings I love too much to get rid of, even if they are retired!) to highlight the sentiment and paired it on top of the of Label Me Lovely punch that I trimmed down.

The embellishments in the corner are the new Elegant Faceted Gems. Now when you look at them in the catalogue on pg 157, it looks like you get a light green gem, you DON’T—its actually the clear gem appearing that way because of the background it was photographed on. I wanted to point out because I don’t using ‘read’ stuff, I am a visual person!

final 62.JPG

I decided this page was taking on an elegant feel and it needed something to fill the white space but not be distracting at the same time. I ended up using the Basic Patterns Decorative Masks with the Shimmery White embossing paste. I love the feel and texture it gave the page. I added in a small strip a DSP in a Purple Posy pattern to keep the purple flowing down the page. It is from the Playing With Patterns DSP.

Happy Day is from the much overlooked, in my opinion, stamp set called Friend Like You in the annual catalogue. And the accompanying sentiment is from the Forever Blossoms stamp set. This set holds a special place in my heart as it was one of the stamp sets I used when I presented at On Stage in November of 2019.

The Highland Heather die cut flowers are from the Many Layered Blossoms dies in the Annual Catalogue.

I really love how soft and lovely this page turned out and how using a variety of fonts really show cased the photo!

I hope the next time you sit down to do some memory keeping you consider how mixing up the fonts on your page can add a little twist!
